The Board of Directors of G & L Beijer has appointed Per Bertland as its new Managing Director and CEO. He will take up his duties on 1 July 2013. Per Bertland succeeds Joen Magnusson who, after 30 years as Managing Director and CEO, will leave this area of responsibility in agreement with the Board. However, Joen will continue as a Board Member and the Board of Directors has appointed him as Vice Chairman of the Board.
Per Bertland graduated as an MBA and has worked in different functions within the G & L Beijer Group since 1990. He has been Head of the Beijer Ref business area and a Member of the Executive Management since 1990. He has been actively involved with the concentration on, and growth within, the trading and distribution operation.
Commenting on the change, the Chairman of G & L Beijer, Peter Jessen Jürgensen, says:
”We thank Joen Magnusson for his significant contribution to G & L Beijer’s fantastic development during his 30 years as Managing Director and CEO. During this period, the operation has been consolidated into a global trading and distribution operation within refrigeration products, air conditioning and heat pumps. Over this period, SEK 1 invested in G & L Beijer has grown in value to SEK 77, the Group has enjoyed an increase in sales from SEK 170M to SEK 6,758M and an increase in its operating profit from SEK 18M to SEK 452M. We have all appreciated Joen’s achievements and the pleasure of working with him. We are looking forward to a continued successful collaboration with Joen on the Board of Directors.
We are also very happy that there is a successor to Joen within the Group. As the Head of the Beijer Ref business area, Per Bertland has been vital in building up the business area into a global operation and into one of the largest refrigeration wholesalers in the world.”
As a result of the aforementioned staff changes, G & L Beijer’s Executive Management will consist of the following individuals:
